The Battle is O'er

Book Five of The Blue Bells Chronicles
Prelude...6

Fra carnavale, kneeling monk, medieval art, time travel, fiction

In the candlelight, the elderly monk crouched, his hands and one knee on the stone floor, wheezing. Niall, the Laird, and Hugh stared at him, too stunned to speak.

The monk lifted his head, looking from one to the other. A smile broke across his face for just a moment before he fell into a fit of coughing. Niall dropped to his knee, touching the old man's back.

The monk drew a deep breath, shaking with the effort. "Niall," he wheezed. "I've waited so long to finally meet ye in the flesh!"
