A third clap of thunder shook the very stones of Glenmirril. The bullish man wrenched himself from the monk's grasp, stumbled against one wall, backed up, and slammed into another.

"Amy!" A man shouted. The baby's cry split the air.

Lightning streaked across the rose window, and Amy was gone.
